Fun in the Snow

The snow has been coming and going this winter...Just when I'm ready to post some photos, the snow melts and new storms pile it up again. These photos are from our last batch of storms. There have been so many, I've lost count. One downside this winter is that our snow blower stopped working last week. Thankfully, our next door neighbor plowed us out after two heavy snowfalls!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have been witnessing a few signs of spring this week, though. The sparrows cleaned out their old nest from our birdhouse and began building their new nest. Goldfinches and housefinches have been gathering at our feeder and the plumage of the males is really starting to brighten. Even our parakeet Cosmo senses the other birds' presence outside. You know spring is right around the corner when Cosmo begins to immitate the goldfinch's song. One final treat for me and Samedh has been watching a small flock of bluebirds darting around our backyard over the past week. Bluebirds rarely visit our garden in the summer, so to see their bright blue feathers standing out in the snow has been a welcome sight.
