Backhoe Road Show

We had quite an exciting July in our neighborhood! One evening after we returned from swim class, we noticed that our street had been torn up as if some road repairs were about to take place. There were no notices, no signs. But something big was about to happen. We just didn't know when. The following week, the road crew finally arrived. Young boys throughout the neighborhood set up watch from their front yards, moms included. It was a very hot day, so Samedh and I sat in the shade with water bottles and watched what he calls the "road show". EVERY construction vehicle imaginable was there, and Samedh just couldn't get enough. There were backhoes and rollers and Bobcats and huge dump trucks supplying asphalt. It was fun to watch every aspect of the road construction and see just how each of these vehicles worked together to build a new road. The best part for me? We now have a smooth new road which makes stroller walks a breeze. So smooth and flawless...makes me wish I still had my old roller skates from when I was 12.
