Samedh and I watched President Ford's funeral live on television today. It was very moving. It would have been nice to have been part of the crowd during the motorcade, but it would not have been easy with Samedh. Maybe if he was a little older. We watched the entire News 8 coverage all afternoon, and it was very touching when Samedh clapped his hands when the band played "Hail to the Chief."
One of my favorite photos (pictured above) is of the billboard on US131 North that says, "Gerald Our Ford". I saw this billboard Tuesday evening as Pankaj, Samedh, my mom and I were on our way to a family funeral visitation in Grand Rapids. When we drove across the Grand River, you could see thousands of people lining the bridge and winding their way around DeVos Place, preparing to view Ford's casket at the museum. You could also catch a glimpse of all the news crews lining the streets. It was quite an awesome sight.
