Two Very Special Children

Two very special children, Ragini and Prasad, both from Bal Vikas orphanage in Mumbai, finally met their forever families on Friday. I did not have the opportunity to meet these children when we were at Bal Vikas in November, but I did see them hop on the school bus the afternoon we took Samedh home. (Pankaj, however, was able to meet Ragini during his visit with Samedh at BV in July.)

Over the past several months, I have gotten to know Ragini's mother Kristi and Prasad's mother Christine very well through a wonderful on-line support group for Bal Vikas families. Both Ragini and Prasad grew up at Bal Vikas, and have waited a lifetime for their forever families. And while they are nearly 6 years older than Samedh, and probably never came into contact with him at the orphanage, I still feel a special bond with them and their families. It has been a blessing to connect with other families who have adopted children from the same orphanage, and I look forward to a Bal Vikas family reunion next spring.
