Movin' on Up!

Some exciting news to share this evening! Pankaj just called from the bank to report that he happened to be on the Indian court website and found that we now have an FAP number assigned! Just 2 weeks ago, we were FAPL #239, and now we are FAP #96.

We're not sure what FAPL stands for, but it has to do with "Foreign Adoption Petition." When your Guardianship case is filed with the court, you are first assigned the FAPL number. I guess the FAP number is the next step, and believe a "JO" (judge's order) number will follow. All adoption cases are heard on Wednesdays, unless the court is closed for a holiday (as it was this week). On Wednesday, August 30, there were 10 foreign adoption cases heard by Judge Mohite in Mumbai. The highest FAP number that day was #86, so we're hoping that we'll see our case scheduled very soon. Maybe by next Wednesday or the week after...we'll keep you posted.
