Special Days

Olivia at Tunnel Park, August 2006
Julia at Tunnel Park, August 2006

Pankaj and I have hosted Special Days for our two older nieces for several years. When Julia turned 3, we started having her overnight at our house. The visit would always include a dinner out, a special breakfast in the morning, and a day of crafts or other special fun activities with Aunt Deb. When Olivia turned 3, we did the same with her. Over the years, sometimes we invited them both together. At times, two were more than we could handle at once, but it was always a great bonding experience for us all.

Now the girls are getting older, and Samedh will be coming home soon. We certainly want the Special Days to continue, but realize that they will be different going forward. Kaleia will be turning 3 in April, so her Special Days with Aunt Deb & Uncle Pankaj will likely start sometime next summer. She may have to share her Special Days with "Baby Sammy" (as she calls him) for a while, but I don't think she'll mind one bit.
Here are some photos from the most recent Special Days we had with Julia and Olivia. One week apart, right before school started, we spent some time with them at Tunnel Park in Holland. Julia was especially excited to see "the Michigan Lake" and Olivia wanted to know if it was an ocean because she couldn't see the other side. We all had such great fun on both days, and hope there will be plenty more to come.
